The original Space Jam movie was released in 1996, and the cast consisted of NBA stars like Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, and several others. It was an animated film where these NBA players helped the Looney Tunes overcome adversity and ultimately defeat The Monstars. I watched this movie upwards of 20 times as a kid because I loved it so much. I am a huge fan of this masterpiece and consider it to be in my top five movies that I have ever watched.

Because of this love I have for the movie, I always prayed that a second one would be made during my lifetime. Back in 2015, my prayers were answered when Warner Bros. announced they would be partnering with LeBron James and his company to make a second Space Jam. As of early this year, director Malcom D. Lee announced that Space Jam 2 was beginning the filming process. It is set to release in July of 2021 with several NBA stars of today’s generation in it. Some of the stars announced on the cast list are LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard.

The sequel to Space Jam has been much anticipated and long waited. It has been approximately 23 years since the release, so many fans (including myself) had lost faith in a possible sequel. When the sequel was announced, a monsoon of support came from these long-time fans.

With this long wait comes high expectations. Personally, I expect this movie to be picture perfect. The directors have had 23 years to study the first film and come up with a new plot. Although the first storyline was amazing, I hope that the new film has a completely different one that continues on some of the old story. I cannot wait to see the Looney Tunes back in action alongside some of my favorite NBA players.

The star in Space Jam 2 is Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James. Despite the jam-packed schedule he already has, James has also had to find time to film this movie. He is obviously sacrificing a lot of time with his family and friends in order to recreate this masterpiece, and this is something for which we owe him lots of gratitude. Michael Jordan, the original Space Jam star, was put in a similar situation where he had little time to film this movie, but he did a wonderful job acting in it. Many wonder if James will be able to live up to the high standards Jordan set while acting in this movie.

What do you think?

Will LeBron James' acting in "Space Jam 2" be better, worse, or the same as Michael Jordan's acting in the first "Space Jam?"
