Elder enters playoffs

The Elder Panthers run onto the field at the Pit.

Elder football is big on the west side of Cincinnati. It’s a division 1 football team that is bound for the playoffs every year. They are currently 5-5 on the season after beating Lasalle in week 10. The schedule for the Panthers has been extremely hard; one of the toughest schedules ever. The teams that they will have to face will tough, but they have already faced tough opponents in their season. They are seeking to go 10-5 topping it with a state ring. Elder’s playoff history by the numbers:

Elder (23rd appearance, 40-20 overall) – 2021, 2020, 2019 (State Runner-up), 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009 (Regional Champion), 2008 (State Runner-up), 2007, 2004, 2003 (State Champion), 2002 (State Champion), 2001, 2000, 1999, 1996 (Regional Champion), 1995, 1991, 1989, 1988.

Elder has Colerain in the first round and they will most likely they will see St. Xavier next as they play the 16th seed Hamilton. Key players that will have to stand out on offense are Ben Hambleton, Drew Ramsey, Andrew Harp, and Luke Flowers. Defensively they will have to stop the triple option the Cardinals love to run and it will come down to the front three getting a great push.  If the defense reads their right keys this game should be a easy game for the Elder Panthers. Elder is ranked number 7 in the playoff rankings in their region.

Hopefully they can upset the city and all of its doubters.
