As the 2024 High School football season is underway, the Price Hill Panthers have been making a statement for the last three weeks. Elder has outscored their opponents 78-25. Both sides of the ball have been playing phenomenally as the offense is starting to click and the defense has been absolutely outstanding.
I have talked to team captain Cam James about what this team means to him and what being a team captain really means to him. When I asked him what being a team captain meant to him, here’s what he had to say. “It’s an amazing feeling knowing that teammates from last year elected me to have someone these guys can look up to,” Cam plays a huge role for the Elder offense at offensive guard. Cam also said the aspects to becoming a leader is something that can be shared with other people.
When I asked Cam about what this team means to him he said, “I have been watching Elder football since I was a little, little boy, and to now be apart of Elder football truly means something to me.” Cam also said that Elder football has been in his family for as long as he can remember.
After talking to Cam, he believes that this team is special and that they can go far into the playoffs. I agree with Cam that if this team keeps playing and working as hard as they do that they can make a really fun playoff run. I also agree that having Cam as a captain adds to someone that we can look up too. After talking with Cam, I talked to starting cornerback Corey Selle.
When I was talking to Corey I asked him how it feels to be back after not playing his junior year. Corey said, It feels really good being able to play without having to deal with any injuries.” Corey dealt with a torn labrum and was out for a good amount of time. He came back and started right away as he looked forward to his senior year. I asked Corey how it felt to come back and start, he replied with, “It feels like I never left and I’m getting better every week.”
I agree with Corey because he has worked as hard as anyone else had to get a starting spot, and being able to practice with him everyday and seeing the improvements he has been making since being out for so long really shows when it comes to playing.
I believe that the Panthers will have an unforgettable season this fall and will be absolutely outstanding when it comes to playing their GCL rivals and playing big time teams like St. Edwards for example. The Panthers have a very tough schedule but look forward to taking care of business as always, and make their run back to Canton.
