Justin Timberlake is a man of many talents. He can golf, he can act; but everyone knows he is most known for his music. After taking a seven year break from music to focus on his acting career, starring in movies such as The Social Network , he is now at it again with his upcoming album release, The 20/20 Experience. The 20/20 Experience is set to be released on March 19, but rumors have been floating around the web that it has already been leaked. I have managed to find the songs “Suit and Tie”, “Mirrors” and “Pusher Love Girl” from the new album, but the other eight tracks are nowhere to be found. The websites that claim to have the leaked album usually have some long process in order to download. I tried following the instructions for a good thirty minutes and was still not able to obtain the new album. The three songs that have been released, “Mirrors”, “Suit and Tie”, and “Pusher Love Girl”, all have very different musical styles. “Suit and Tie” is more groovy, and has a 70s vibe to it, while “Mirrors” has more of a pop feel and a more modern tone. “Pusher Love Girl” on the other hand is slower and smooth. All three songs are great and the different styles between them foreshadow diversity in the upcoming album, which is always a good sign. With the return of JT’s music career, he had to get the word out about his new songs, and what better way to do it than at the Grammys. Before JT even performed, there was already a standing ovation waiting for him as soon as he walked out on stage. JT was joined by Jay-Z as they performed “Suit and Tie” and “Pusher Love Girl”. Both songs were big hits with the crowd. JT has also been working with Marcus Mumford, from the band Mumford and Sons, on making music for a new Coen brothers’ film. If you don’t know who Joel and Ethan Coen are, they are the directors responsible for movies such as O Brother, Where Art Thou? and No Country for Old Men , which are both terrific movies. JT told a British radio station that the new film would not only be a great movie, but it would have fantastic music. I wanted to see what other people thought of JT’s comeback, so I asked Hayden Davis, junior at Mariemont high school, what his opinions on the new songs were. He replied, “Timberlake’s music is not something I personally would listen to, but I got to admit that the ‘Suit and Tie’ song is pretty catchy.” When asking Michael Chaney, junior at Clark Montessori, what his thoughts were, he told me, “It’s very classy.” To that I just want to say that JT doesn’t make music because he feels like he has to, he makes music when he wants to and that’s what keeps his music classy.
