You’ve carved your pumpkin, you’ve got your costume ready, but the only thing you’re missing is a quality horror movie. Fear not: I have you covered. As a huge horror fan I have spent hours upon hours watching horror movies. Since most people have a Netflix account, myself included, I have compiled a list of the best horror movies on Netflix. For those of you who don’t have a horror movie collection in your basement, but have a Netflix.

  1. The Babadook

A limited release film that, in my opinion, was one of the best films of 2014, and definitely the best horror film. The Babadook is full of quality acting and quality scares. It will make sure you check your closet before going to bed.

  1. Nosferatu

A silent film that has a great film score. Don’t let the fact that it’s a silent film fool you, this movie will scare you just as much as The Babadook.

  1. The Omen

A classic of horror cinema. The Omen is full of disturbing imagery and has one of the best decapitation scenes I’ve seen in a movie.

  1. Re-animator

One of the best cult classics. This films over the top gore is matched only by its over the top jokes. It is also on my list of worst films to show your girlfriend.

  1. Let the Right One In

You might have to read the subtitles, but who cares? This movie is a fantastic film that, if it’s just a night in with bae, has a great romantic element as well.

  1. Scream 1 and 2

I know I’m cheating, but these movies are too good to decide which one makes the list. These movies make fun of the horror movie clichés while using them with surprising skill. This movie have you laughing, and screaming, at the same time.

  1. Oculus

A movie not big on scares, but very big at questioning reality. This film will have you wondering what’s real and what’s not until the very end.

  1. Wes Craven’s A New Nightmare

A return to form of the Nightmare series. This film has an interesting plot and does a great job on scares.

  1. Stake Land

A post-apocalyptic film that focuses on characters rather than monsters. This film creates an eerie atmosphere that packs a mean punch.

  1. Sleepy Hollow

This movie has Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken. Enough said.

Bonus Movies not on Netflix, but are highly recommended (Quickies)

  1. The Evil Dead Franchise

1st one if you have girls, 2nd if it’s just the guys, and 3rd if you’re looking for laughs.

  1. The Exorcist

Scariest movie of all time.

  1. The Shining

Two words, Stanley Kubrick.

  1. Zombieland

One of the funniest films I’ve ever seen.
