Summer movies making a splash
Highly anticipated blockbuster films make their way to the forefront as summer finally approaches.
The summer of 2017 is quickly approaching, and just as pools’ tarps fly off and the gates are opened to the summer swimmers, the theaters’ doors are opened to summer movie connoisseurs looking forward to some exciting new releases.
From the brand new Alien squeal to the original King Authur movie, these viewers’ hope and excitement is well justified. So without further ado, let’s dive into some of the most exciting new films coming soon this summer.
Cars 3
Cars is one of those movies that resonates nostalgia with practically anyone who has seen it. Lighting’s adventure with Mator and the gang in Radiator Springs tugs at the heart strings every time, and its squeal, Cars 2, provides a more thrilling aspect to the series with its undercover spy action even if the reviews were not as high.
After six years of anticipation, the Cars franchise finally circled back around for another race. Pixar announced Cars 3 will be first released on June 16th this summer.
Unlike its predecessor, Cars 3 will mainly take place in the US. The conflict consists of Lighting’s failures in his recent races (even a thundering crash), and his struggles to climb back into his previous success through winning the Florida 500.
New characters in this classic film series include the main antagonist, Jackson Storm, voiced by Armie Hammer, and Curuz Remirez-McQueen’s trainer and racing technician- voiced by Cristela Alonzo.
The original radiator crew Lightening, Mater, Sally, Flo, Mack, Fillmore, etc… will be making appearances as well. So get out there and re-live a little of your childhood with Cars 3.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Yes, another Disney movie. Don’t worry we will switch it up soon. Pirates of the Caribbean is another successful trademark Disney franchise. Just as Cars 3, venturing into a Pirates of the Caribbean binge watch session will most likely toss you back a few years bringing up feelings of nostalgia and adventure.
Since 2003, there have been a total of four Pirates of the Caribbean movies produced with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales standing as the fifth installment. The first two movies had the most success, and the latter looks to be the most popular since the initial productions.
In this swashbuckler film, Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) is re-acquainted with one of his numerous foes, Armando Salazar, who along with the navy ghost crew escaped the “devil’s triangle” which is destined to kill every pirate at sea.
Join Jack and Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) in their pirate quest to gain the “Trident of Poseidon” and finally defeat Salazar.
The House
Anyone who has the slightest sense of humor knows the comedic genius of Will Ferrel. From his SNL skits to Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Will has proved to be one of the greatest comedians of not only this generation but of all time.
Along with Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell sets his eyes on proving his skills once again in the soon to be released movie, The House.
Directed by Adam McKay, The House follows a married couple whose daughter just graduated high school and his moving on to college.
The daughter (played by Ryan Simpkins) was unexpectedly accepted into the college she had dreamed for, but unfortunately her parents were out of luck when nit came to paying for her education.
Therefore Will Ferrell and his partner in crime, Amy Poehler, wind up running an illegal casino in their basement to pay for college. With the help of their neighbor Frank (played by Jason Mantzoukas), the couple hilariously ends up in quite the mess of events running their very own underground casino.
So when the weather is too hot or the clouds are too rainy, slide into an air conditioned theater and check out one of these highly anticipated and entertaining movies.
