Movies I’ve watched during quarantine
There isn’t much that we can do while being at home during this time in history. We cannot go about with our normal lives as we know it, and are instead confined to the comforts of our own homes. It is up to the individual to entertain themselves.
Much of my entertainment has come from watching many movies from a plethora of movie genres. There have definitely been good ones and there has been some bad ones too, but regardless, they’ve successfully kept me occupied.
Here are some movies I’ve watched since being at home.
The Social Network (2010)
This one is about the story behind Facebook. It’s also pretty much the story how how Mark Zuckerberg was a complete tool at times, and how his once “friends” tried to sue him for more money than any of us can imagine. Both the Facebook and lawsuit aspects of the film are great. This movie had great acting from Jessie Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. After watching this, I’m convinced that Mark Zuckerberg is a Top 10 most savage person on Earth.
Grade: A
Inception (2010)
Inception was filled with action, all the way from start to finish. Easily the most confusing movie I’ve ever watched in my lifetime, but it was really interesting and was filled with interesting information about dreams that could very well be false, but are neat anyway. There’s always about nine different things going on at a time in this film, so there’s never really a dull moment. Some people may struggle to comprehend what is actually happening in this movie, but for the smart ones out there, this is a good one.
Grade: A
Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019)
Such a funny movie. Zach Galifianakis is absolutely hysterical in this movie. Essentially, Galifianakis interviews celebrities, and the questions he asks them are very awkward and make fun of them in some way. His questions are laugh out loud funny. His character is laugh out loud funny. To top it all off, the bloopers that are shown at the end are quite possibly even funnier than the movie. If you don’t laugh at this one, then you don’t have a soul. One of the funniest movies I’ve seen.
Grade: A
Interstellar (2014)
If I’m being honest, space really creeps me out, so I was hesitant on watching this movie. But, turns out that it was very good. Traveling through space and into different galaxies while Earth is dying is pretty interesting. Matthew McConaughey is good in this film. I cannot lie, I was utterly confused towards the end of this movie. Space is still scary, but this movie was good.

The Interview (2014)
Seth Rogen and James Franco are a dynamic duo. These two find themselves in North Korea, and their task is to interview dictator Kim Jong-un. Some of the lines in this movie are quite comical. Some people will watch this and say that it was stupid or something, but I thought it was really funny. The plot got a little weak towards the end, and the ending was eh, but the first half of this movie is very, very funny. If you need an entertaining movie that’ll make you laugh, this is a good candidate.
Grade: B+
Hitch (2005)
While Will Smith is the star of this film, my star of the film is Kevin James. His role as the awkward and overweight character who is shooting his shot is very funny. I’ll admit it, this one is a chick flick, but it was solid anyway. It’s a romantic comedy about a guy (Will Smith) who is a wizard at coaching guys in the dating world, who meets a girl (Amber Valletta), and you know what’s next. Overall, not bad.
Grade: B
Her (2013)
This is the strangest movie I’ve ever watched. Hands down. Not even close. A “sensitive” man (Joaquin Phoenix) falls in love with an Operating System, which is voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Yes, that’s right, an Operating System. Like a computer. Weird, man, weird. While this was undoubtedly the most unusual film I’ve ever seen, it honestly was not terrible. It’s so futuristic and odd that you want to find out what’s going to happen. It’s an odd movie, but some people may really like it.
Grade: B-
Death Wish (2018)
Bruce Willis is already a well-known figure in terms of being a badass in movies. He cemented his place in history in Die Hard, and continues his legacy in this film. Something bad happens to him and his family, and he flips the switch from being a surgeon to becoming a stone cold killer who seeks vengeance on just about everyone. This one, unfortunately, was not as good as Die Hard, but was alright at best.
Grade: B-
When We First Met (2018)
Adam Devine is one of my favorite actors. He’s funny in every movie or television show that he is in. Devine was funny in this, but the movie was subpar. It gets a little old when someone keeps reliving the same two days over and over again, except Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. Some of the movie was funny, but I just thought it was a bit hokey and dumb at times. Still, Devine’s best movie is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and that will not change anytime soon.
Grade: C+
The Little Hours (2017)
After watching the preview of this movie, I thought that it was going to be a very funny film, considering it had cast members like Aubrey Plaza, Dave Franco, John C. Reilly, and others. I was very disappointed in this movie. It could’ve been so much funnier. This film is about a convent that is filled with violations and nuns who pretty much do as they please, which sounds like a very funny film in the making. But, I really didn’t think it was all that.
Grade: C-
There’s probably many more movies to be watched. I’m open to any suggestions.
