AFC playoff scenarios
With the regular season coming to an end the NFL playoffs are just around the corner. The AFC conference has a number of scenarios that could take place in deciding the conference’s seeding. If the season were to end today the Broncos would get the one seed, the Patriots the two, Bengals the three, Colts the four, with the Chiefs and Ravens getting the wild card 5 and 6 seeds respectively.
Almost every one of those seeds is suspect to change depending on the next two weeks of football. Denver and Kansas City have both clinched playoff spots while Indianapolis has clinched the AFC South. The scenarios for the AFC this week are as following:
Denver can clinch the AFC West and a first round bye this week with a win and a Kansas City loss. They can clinch home field advantage with a Denver win, a Kansas City loss, and a New England loss.
New England clinches the AFC East with a win or a Miami loss. They clinch a first round bye with a win along with a Bengals loss and an Indian loss. New England also clinches a playoff spot with a Cincinnati loss.
Cincinnati can clinch the AFC North with a win and a Baltimore loss. They can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a Dolphins loss.
Baltimore gets a guaranteed playoff spot with a win, a Miami loss, and a San Diego loss. Miami also clinches a playoff berth with a win, a Baltimore loss, and a Cincinnati loss.
With two weeks left in the season a number of things could potentially happen drastically changing the entire seeding of the AFC playoffs. Who knows, Kansa City could win this week and the Broncos could lose which would put the widely excepted best team in the AFC to a wild card spot.
It shows to prove you how important every single NFL game really is. There truly are no off weeks for modern NFL teams.
