Avengers: The next big thing
It’s been an agonizing two years since the last appearance of The Avengers, but fans will not have to wait much longer. The Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming in 2015 in the month of May. This film will bring high expectations considering the success of its predecessor, The Avengers, in 2012.
Although only being released a week ago, the trailer on Youtube has already reached over 50 million views from across the world. This movie series from Marvel has continued growing in popularity each year, which ultimately is putting a lot of stress on Marvel to produce the best movie possible.
One major asset that Marvel has is the amount of skill in the cast. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans are all beloved heroes that many fans know and love. Of course, all of these people have their own independent super hero movies, but the cool thing about The Avengers is that it gathers all these people together. Fans will also be happy to see the stars from Thor, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston, making an appearance in the new Avengers movie.
Although this may seem like an easy movie to successfully produce, I strongly think that you should reconsider. We have seen a similar series known as The Expendables completely fail when attempting to bring together that much talent with such little screen time. Most of the action and humor seemed forced rather than natural and the script was nothing impressive. When working with hundreds of millions of dollars it can be stressful to produce something that meets the fan’s expectations. However, as we have seen in the past, Joss Whedon successfully directed the original which reached impressive heights and even more importantly received good reviews. The first Avengers supposedly grossed $640,000,000 in the first 12 days of release and Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a solid rating of 92%.
I spoke to Randy Duvall for his opinion on the upcoming release.
“The first one was awesome because it incorporated Captain America’s leadership and how the group mixed. I was expecting Thanos to be the main villain, but I’m excited to see how things carry over,” said Duvall. Thanos, who was Loki’s mysterious benefactor at the end of the original Avengers, was considered by many to play a bigger role in the upcoming film.
Michael O’Brien also gladly added his input on the second film.
“I do believe that the second Avengers movie is going to be a hundred times better than the first, if I get the chance to see it on opening night I’ll definitely go”, said O’Brien. He also gave his thoughts on the first movie.
“The first Avengers movie drew in both hard core superhero fans and casual fans alike, and it was an action-packed hit that anyone can enjoy”.
I couldn’t have said it any better myself. The Avengers has truly changed the movie industry as far as action goes. Although it has its fair share of explosions, it is also backed up by an impeccable story line.
