Elder LAX

The Elder Lacrosse team is off to a solid start at a 7-4 record. For the past couple of years, Elder has been building up their program turning it into one of the elite in the tri-state. Headed by Mr. Tom Nugent, this team is well on its way to becoming more than anyone would have ever expected. Such a talented team needs experienced captains, and that’s exactly what the Panthers brought to the table. Kyle Fortman, Michael Weil and J.T. Williams are the captains of this year’s Lacrosse team. Two of the captains are seniors, Weil and Fortman. Both of these young men are taking their talents one step further into their college years. Weil will be attending Mount Saint Joseph next year and Fortman will be headed to Florida Southern College. Aside from being great athletes, both of these captains are extremely intelligent. They both received academic scholarships to their schools. Fortman is a long stick middy or defensemen, and Weil is the team’s goalie. Being senior captains, a lot is expected of them, as well as Williams. Motivation is key, and that’s exactly what these three have to offer; they’re all excellent leaders. “Don’t mistake achievement for activity.” A quote Fortman and the lacrosse team have used this season. “Florida South is only 45 minutes from Tampa so I’m really excited. People ask me if I’m going to Panama and I say no, I’ll be living it for the next four years.” “This is a great group of men, they’re all headed in the right direction,” added Weil. Elder lacrosse will miss all of its seniors next spring. Best of luck to all of these tough men, great things will become of this program in the future. Elder lacrosse has come a long way. Coach Nugent is well on his way turning this program no one could have fathomed.
