Redlegs 2013

It has been 23 years since the Reds have won the World Series. This is the year they turn things around. In 2012, the Reds ended with an astounding 97 wins. Following that up will be difficult, but this is the Reds we’re talking about, they’ve achieved bigger feats in their 100+ years as a ball club. As Reds fans, the disappointment they brought us in the post season was unbearable, losing a 3-0 lead in a series doesn’t happen often. However, this year is different; the Reds will do better. The Reds have resigned some key players for this upcoming season. The lineup runs deep this year with seven clutch batters. New to the organization is Shin Soo Choo, a recently acquired outfielder from the Cleveland Indians. Choo will be the new leadoff batter, according to the Reds. With Drew Stubbs out of the picture, Choo intends to take the place in center field. The new batting order for the Reds will go: Choo, Phillips, Votto, Ludwick, Bruce, Frazier, Cozart and Hanigan. With such a strong offense, the defense also needs to step up their game. After missing nearly 50 games in 2012, Joey Votto is recuperating at a good pace for next season. With such a key player missing that many games, the Reds had to make do with what they had. The pitching in 2012 was solid, with a bullpen that runs several pitchers deep. Aroldis Chapman has moved from closer, to starter. This is a major leap for the 100 mph pitching Cuban. With Chapman starting, Broxton has moved to take his place. Sinn Soo Choo is a right fielder by trade, but the Reds are moving him to center, a position he isn’t exactly comfortable with. 2013 will be a good year for the Reds. The community has their back and hopes to see big things. With such a talented ball club it would be a disappointment to have a repeat of last season. Phillips, Votto and Bruce need to step their game up, it’s about time the Reds won the World Series for the first time in over 20 years.
