Love knows no distance
Dave Heisel drives to the other side of Cincinnati to be with his girlfriend.
Everyone on the Westside knows that traveling anywhere more than ten minutes away is like traveling across the country. But not for David Heisel.
The 45 minute drive to Eastgate every weekend never gets old for him. He knows that at the end of that long, strenuous journey, he’ll get to see his one true love, Sophie.
Love certainly knows no distance for these two. Dave didn’t expect to the meet the love of his life on April 6th, 2014 up at Ohio State during Sibs Weekend. Even though Sophie is way out of Dave’s league, (popular opinion from everyone on Earth), this relationship is still going strong.
But what are the chances of this happening? Dave was up at Ohio State for his cousin, who just so happens to be roommates with Sophie’s sister. Sounds like fate to me. Or, it sounds like bad luck for Sophie.
The trek from Delhi to Eastgate is one that Dave longs for. I asked him how often he gets to see her in person and he told me around once or twice a week. When asked, they both agreed that this was a healthy relationship. Dave gave a more confident reply stating, “Oh yeah…real healthy.”
When asked if it was love at first sight for these two, Sophie replied, “It was for him, not for me.” Maybe even she believes in the popular opinion that Dave really outkicked his coverage on this one.
I asked the two what were their favorite things to do on the weekend. Dave’s response seemed rather sarcastic saying, “Driving 45 minutes to see my girlfriend really does it for me.” Sophie however gave a genuine reply that almost made me believe she actually liked Dave. She said, “My favorite thing to do is watch Panther football!”
It almost sounds like Dave paid her to give that response. We won’t worry about it though.
One popular topic is the fact that it must get kind of annoying having to go that far to see your better half right? Well I asked the two if the relationship would last with all those miles between them. Sophie said, “Yes, but only if Dave agrees.” Sounds to me like she’s got other options, but what do I know? Then Dave gave the heartfelt answer, “Of course it will. Distance means nothing.”
The important thing is that both of these two are happy right? Of course it’s still inconceivable that Sophie is with Dave, but at least they’re happy. Ya know, if more people had as much love for each other as these two do, I bet this world would be a slightly better place.
