Everyone always loves watching the four major sports of the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA. To me, the most exciting by far is the NBA. It has the most action, is the quickest paced, and has a little bit of everything.
After the opening night we already have a game of the year contender. The Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder had a duel. This was a double overtime thriller with the Thunder sneaking by with a 125-124 win.
The Rockets debuted the tallest lineup in NBA history, with the smallest starter on their team stands at six foot seven inches. Everyone else starting for them was six foot eleven inches. When I asked Grady Priestle about it, he said, “It’s genuinely one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen on a basketball court. They all have the size of forwards and centers but they’re putting some of them at guard.
This is unheard of. You’re going to put Kevin Durant at a completely new position this late in his career? My dad once told me, ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’, and in this case I could not agree with him more. Durant is an amazing player, don’t get me wrong, I just thing he would produce better if he was at forward and Adams was out of the starting lineup so someone could actually facilitate the ball.”
Those were some strong words from Mr. Priestle, so I decided to ask someone else about it as well. Junior Joey Ventre had a much more positive outlook on the game plan. He said, “I think it’s an amazing idea. You get so much versatility out of these huge guys. The rebounding and defense are going to be absolutely immaculate. I don’t think they’re going to lose many games. They lost by one point to the former champions of the league. I couldn’t be more excited to see what this team can do”.
The Rockets played very well. However, the Thunder did play better. Their MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, played very well racking up 35 points, five rebounds, and five assists. The Rocket’s giants could not quite hold back Shai from popping off.
So far, this season has looked great. There is still plenty of basketball to be played and a lot of fun to have watching. It should be a great season with lots of excitement!
