Elder receives generous gift

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well on the west side of Cincinnati, and Elder High School is the recipient of a generous gift from the “Friends of Print.”

The “Friends” are a group of Cincinnati business leaders in the field of printing, headed by Mr. Gary Walton, Professor Emeritus at Cincinnati State. They have come together to promote the vocation of printing and the graphic arts in general as a viable career choice for today’s students. Elder faculty member and graphic design teacher, Gary Rogers had been working with Mr. Walton and the group for about two years to forge this partnership.

On December 12, a group gathered in Elder’s Schaeper Center to formally present the Epson 3270 large format printer to Elder’s student body president, Maxwell Deters.

The hope is to expose Elder students to possible career choices in the graphic arts; especially in the fields of digital printing as it merges with the technologies of 3D printing as well. This goal is to help the Cincinnati area regain its position as a leader in printing services worldwide.
