Parks preserve natural resources for future generations

My list of the top National Parks in the USA

There are many beautiful places in the United States of America. Some are so beautiful and so worth preserving in their current setting, that they are deemed National Parks. National Parks often attract millions of visitors every year and are a hit for tourists. In this article I will be talking about the Top National Parks in the USA.

Stay in the Great Smoky Mountains | Smoky Mountains of NC
Great Smoky Mountains is very close to Cincinnati in Tennessee.

The first National Park on this list is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Great Smoky Mountains opened in 1934, and is located on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. I personally have been there before and it was actually really nice. My family and I went up to Abrams Creek which has an elevation of 840 feet and is the lowest elevation in the park. The maximum elevation is Clingman’s Dome which has an astonishing elevation of 6,643 feet. At the top of the mountain there is a spiral staircase that leads up to a dome. From there you can see seven states which are: Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Virginia, and Mississippi. I would definitely recommend going to this park to anyone planning a relaxing vacation, just be prepared to walk a lot due to the park having over 150 trails.

About Old Faithful, Yellowstone's Famous Geyser
Old Faithful erupts in Yellowstone.

The next and probably the most popular is Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was deemed a National park back in 1872 and ever since has been one of our nation’s biggest tourist attractions. Yellowstone’s location is very big with most of it being in Wyoming and some parts being in Idaho and in Montana as well. Yellowstone was actually formed due to a volcanic eruption around 600,000 years ago. Before the eruption, Yellowstone was just mountains and that changed when the lava came into contact with these mountains causing a collapse within them. This would then form current day Yellowstone. The volcano is still active today and goes by the name of Caldera. Caldera is one of the biggest volcanoes in the U.S. today with it being 30 miles wide, and 45 miles long. Although Caldera is a big attraction at Yellowstone, there is one attraction that beats it. That attraction is called “Old Faithful.” This attraction is a geyser that erupts every hour. Millions of people will stick around for many hours just to watch this thing erupt. This eruption is also very high, with some eruptions being around

Zion Canyon Utah | Zion National Park | St. George Utah USA
Zion National Park has many beautiful rock formations and caves.

100 feet high. Yellowstone to this day is one of the most visited places on earth and is a must see for everyone. The views and the countless things to do will make this a perfect vacation spot.

The next National park is Zion National Park. Zion is located in Utah and is one of the greatest national parks in the world. Zion National Park was first opened on November 19, 1919. Zion is home to one of the most fun National Parks in the world with over 40 different attractions. One of the most famous attractions at Zion is “The Narrows.” Like the Grand Canyon, The Narrows is a canyon that reaches out around 16 miles. This is one of the hardest hikes ever due to the extreme heat in Utah. With over 100 degree weather you will definitely need a ton of water to do this. Another great attraction at Zion National Park is their museum. Within this museum you will find out the history and key events of the park. You will also learn about the tribes that once settled there and some of the artifacts that they left behind. One of the coolest things at Zion is its lodging areas. If you are wanting to go for a nice vacation you should stay in one of the few lodges at this park. The lodging areas are scattered around the park and every cabin is located on the top of a cliff. So if you want a great view of the sunset you should definitely visit Zion National Park. The best attraction at Zion is easily Horse Ranch Mountain, which is the highest point at Zion National Park. At the top of the mountain sits a little deck with a staircase that leads to a breathtaking view of the whole park. Zion doesn’t get the recognition that the other parks get but yet it is one of the most beautiful places you can visit. I would definitely recommend it.

My last National Park is Glacier National Park. Glacier Park is located in one of the most beautiful states, Montana. Glacier Park was deemed a National Park in 1910. At this park there are over 25 active remaining glaciers. These glaciers are predicted to disappear by the next 10 years so if you want to visit this National Park you should go now. This National Park holds part of what some may call the “Crown of the Continent.” They call it this due to it being part of the largest ecosystem in the United States. This ecosystem is around 10 million acres and it even goes into part of Canada. In this ecosystem no animals have gone extinct including the grizzly bear. The main attraction at Glacier park is “Going-to-the-sun road.” This road spans over 55 miles and while driving you get to see towering waterfalls, many Glaciers, and beautiful wildlife. While on this road you will go to Logan Pass, which is the highest elevation at the park. While most people take cars some may hike. If you do hike, get ready for a 12- mile hike that is mostly uphill. The last great attraction here is the Blackfoot Glacier. This is the biggest glacier in the park. The glacier sits on top of a mountain and spreads around 370 acres. This glacier is also the biggest glacier in Montana. This park is definitely a destination for many tourists. Mainly due to the fact that these glaciers are only going to be around for 10 years. I would really like to see what this place looks like now rather than in 10 years.
