Elder High School is adding a new sport to its athletics program. The Panthers will be starting a rugby team. This is an exciting addition for students who are interested in trying a fast and physical sport.
The team is planning to host tryouts sometime in mid-April. This will give students a chance to come out and show their skills. Some students have already said they plan on playing this year and are ready to compete. The interest in the team is growing as more students hear about it. One student who is especially excited is Tyler Galbreath. He is fired up to get started and be part of the team from the beginning. Many others are also looking forward to learning the game and building the team together.

It is also reported that Mr. Suer and Mrs. Kellenberger will be the coaches of the rugby team. They will help guide the players and teach them the basics of the sport. The Panthers will play their games at Panther Park, giving students and fans a place to come watch and support the new team.
Mr. Espelage has also been working hard to get the program started. He has helped with making uniforms and making sure the team has everything it needs to begin. He has also put together a schedule for the season, so the team is ready to go once practices and games begin.
A lot of people are excited to see how the team will turn out and what they can accomplish in their first season. Elder has the chance to make rugby a more popular sport and possibly influence local schools to add the sport. Many think that Elder students would be great rugby players because of their intensity and grit. Do you think that Elder could become known for their rugby team in 10 years from now? If the program continues to grow, rugby could become a bigger sport at Elder in the near future.
Oh, by the way, check the date on this story. April Fool.
