Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tightening their grips on the Democratic and Republican presidential nominations.

Assuming that you can vote, who are you voting for in this upcoming presidential election?

The 2016 presidential election is right around the corner, and it is heating up.

Donald J. Trump recently passed Hillary Rodham Clinton in most national poles, but it is still a very close race.

I decided to ask a few men of Elder High School who they supported in this race and why.

The first person I asked was world history teacher and fist hatchet wielder, Mr. Spencer. I asked Spencer, “Who do you support in this Presidential Election and why?”

He told me, “I’m going to have to vote for Trump because my main concern is the Supreme Court nominees… she could appoint several judges and obviously with Hillary they would be very liberal and that could affect us for generations.”

I also spoke to juniors Christian Bonavita and Ben Farwick. They both support Trump, but for different reasons. Bonavita likes his policies, especially immigration, while Farwick likes that he’s not a life time Politician just trying to boost his rap sheet.

The next thing I asked was, “Trump has recently passed in Clinton in many national polls, is Trump doing something right, or is Hillary doing something wrong?”

They all agreed that Trump was doing something right, and they all had a similar reason to why he has passed Clinton.

Spencer, who is pleasently surprised that Trump is beating Clinton right now said, “Hillary Clinton’s ads are outnumbering Trump’s ads ten to one.”

Farwick, and Bonavita agreed that it is mainly because he is acting more presidential. He is more scripted and more moderate. He is not having as many outlandish outbursts as he used to.

They were also asked why they thought Trump got the nomination. They all had different answers for this.

Spencer said, “He probably got the nomination because he acts differently… but he does need to focus a little more to get the general election and get broader support.”

Farwick said, “People like his style. They like how he doesn’t have a filter, and doesn’t care if he hurts somebody’s feelings. We need a ruthless guy like him in office to Make America Great Again.”

Next I brought up Clinton’s criminal past. I asked how they thought a person who was convicted of multiple criminal offenses was able to get the nomination of a major political party.

Spencer, Farwick, and Bonavita all agreed that the nomination was fixed. If someone with a criminal past was able to beat an opponent with a considerable amount of support, then something isn’t right.

They even have the DNC email scandal to back up their claims. The DNC email scandal was the second email scandal to plague Clinton’s campaign.

The last question was, “Do you think this election will go down as one of the most controversial in history?”

Spencer told me, “I don’t know. They say that about every time, don’t they?” He ended it by saying, “It could be. We’ll see.”

Farwick said, “Yeah I do because it’s two people you wouldn’t really expect to be running against each other. They’re polar opposites, and their debates are going to be really fun.”

Bonavita said, “Definitely. Trump with all his insults, and… the Hillary Clinton with the email scandals, and how she’s rigged the election. I think this will definitely be the most controversial election in history.”

This election is gearing up to be a great one. We have two polar opposites. One has a dark past and one has a loud mouth.

I believe that whichever one can keep the light off of their bad spots the longest, will win the 2016 Presidential Election.
